Some of the best fishing can be had from Surfside Pier, just north of Murrells Inlet. At 800 feet it is one of the longest fishing piers in the state of South Carolina. Open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, it’s lighted for night fishing. Surfside Pier rents rod and reel, sells bait, and charges to fish off the pier. We have plenty of Myrtle Beach condo rentals that are a close distance to Surfside Pier and unlike in a hotel room, you’ll be able to cook your day’s catch in your own well-equipped kitchen.
Out on the far end of the pier, where the water runs deep, many people fish with big rods and reels and often will land spectacular catches. At last count, the record off the pier was a 128 lb. tarpon. The pier is full of surprise catches though. You’ll see sand sharks, hammerheads, blowfish, and often a sheepshead the size of a large dog. If you’re lucky you’ll get to catch sight of a sea robin — it has wings like a bat and a face like a catfish.
If this is your first time fishing from Surfside Pier, you will find the locals to be very friendly and quite knowledgeable. Anything you want to know about fishing they can tell you. Take advantage of it and they’ll show you where to catch some impressively sized fish.
