On Wednesday, August 12th, US Airways announced they will be adding daily nonstop flights from Myrtle Beach to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (and vice versa) starting in 2010. This is great news for Myrtle Beach tourism as well as for our business community. Residents of the DC/Northern Virginia travel about 8-9 hours to get to Myrtle Beach by vehicle. Although we do see a good amount of travelers from this area, many of these residents choose to visit Virginia Beach, Maryland, or Delaware beaches as those are within a 3 hour drive.

Myrtle Beach’s year round population has grown substantially over the past 10 years, which has led to growth and development of local business. Direct access to the Nation’s capital will help Myrtle Beach continue to grow in popularity as a top destination as well as a vibrant business community.
