Every year there are plenty of events that kick off the summer season but one of the most popular is this year’s 33rd annual world famous Blue Crab Festival being held in Little River, SC from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 17-18, 2014. The purpose of this biker friendly festival is to showcase and support the Little River, North Myrtle Beach and Grand Strand communities. This is one of the largest festivals in the southeast with attendance exceeding 50,000 people. Come out and enjoy over 200 fine arts and crafts vendors, specialty food vendors, entertainment and a children’s area.
Tickets for the Crab Festival are $5 per day at the event or an advance 1 day ticket for $3 or advance 2 day ticket for $5. Advance tickets are available at the Little River Chamber of Commerce, North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce or the All First Federal locations on the Grand Strand. You can go to bluecrabfestival.org and print a free child/student pass for ages 12 and under. Limit one coupon per child and there is a limit of four children per each paying adult. With the exception of service animals, there are no dogs or other pets allowed.
North Myrtle Beach really knows how to kick off summer with its 9th annual Mayfest on Main festival taking place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2014. You’ll hear some of the best live music, enjoy arts and crafts, many food vendors, a community stage and a children’s area. Be sure to take the time to browse the local North Myrtle Beach shops while you’re in the area. The opening ceremonies will be held at 12 noon. Blue Monday will perform at 12:30, Ross Coppley Band at 2 p.m. and The Surf City Allstars at 4:30 p.m.
The Key West Music and Wine Fest will be held on Saturday, May 3 at La Belle Amie Vineyard at 1120 St. Joseph Road, Little River, SC. An afternoon of live music direct from Key West.
