Christmas in the Smokies – A Dollywood Christmas!

If you want a special Smoky Mountain Christmas, there’s no better place than Dollywood. Millions flock to Dollywood every year to join in on the festivities. Though some traditions in Dollywood are here from year to year, there’s always something new as well.

Dollywood’s Christmas Lights

Dollywood's Christmas Lights

There is something downright magical about Dollywood’s Christmas lights. There are 4 million of them strewn everywhere-on buildings, trees, elves, reindeer, bridges and even some of Dollywood’s rides. Main street is like stepping into a Norman Rockwell Christmas scene. All has Dolly’s input and like the woman herself, it is beautiful, colorful and welcoming. The lights are turned on in early November and run through January 3rd. In addition, a section of the park, Glacier Ridge, Dollywood’s largest expansion, tacks on another million lights, complete with a 50-foot Christmas tree and light show, restaurant, “Artic Passage,” “Polar Bears at Drop Line Bay,” and “Aurora Borealis, The Northern Lights.”

Dollywood’s Christmas Parade – The Parade of Many Colors

Dollywood's Christmas Parade

Each night throughout the season and beginning at 8:15 p.m., the Parade of Many Colors is in full bloom. There is nothing quite like it; floats, walking candy canes and other interactive characters-all set up to make you and your family feel good, inspired and capture the Christmas spirit in a grand way. Get a cup of hot cocoa and enjoy this family friendly, beautiful and heart-warming event.

Faith-Based Events

Dolly wanted to ensure that those who wish to celebrate the season with faith-based activities are able to do so with phenomenal and inspirational entertainment and services. The Robert F. Thomas Chapel is a “country” church that has Christmas services every Sunday beginning at 5:30 a p.m. The Valley Theater premieres the story of Christ’s birth with the play, “O’ Holy Night.” The Pines Theater will present The Kingdom Heirs’ “Heart of Christmas,” as they sing traditional Christmas songs and at the DP Celebrity Theater, a Dollywood tradition: Christmas in the Smokies. Celebrate the season as you watch a large cast of singers, dancers and musicians against a beautiful backdrop with professional stage direction and changing scenery. It’s top-notch Christmas entertainment.

A Dollywood Smoky Mountain Christmas will have the grouchiest of Grinches feeling the Christmas spirit – guaranteed! Time after time, publications and media outlets list Dollywood and the Smoky Mountains as one of the top ten best places to spend Christmas and best Christmas and holiday festivals.
