Salute From the Shore History & Info

South Carolina’s favorite 4th of July tradition continues from Cherry Grove in North Myrtle Beach all the way down the coast to Beaufort! Salute From the Shore began as just an idea 15 years ago by Johnny Folsom and Toddy Smith as a way to show respect to the men and women who are fighting overseas as we are privileged to enjoy a day at the beach. Every July 4th since 2010 there is a Military Flyover over the coast of South Carolina as spectators gather on the beach to show their respect.

Gear up in your best red, white, and blue beach gear and head to the beach before 1 p.m. this Thursday, July 4, 2024. Bring a flag and wave it proudly as these giant military planes fly near the water. Be sure to share your pictures and memories with the Salute From the Shore team using #salutefromtheshore to show your respect to those who are unable to be with their friends and family this holiday weekend.
