Do you and your sweetheart need a night out, but also need to save money? We have a handful of ideas for an affordable date night in the Myrtle Beach area within any budget, but not lacking in fun to be had in a variety of categories.

Check them out – and go out already!

Walk hand in hand.

Your Guide to Valentine's Day 2018 in Myrtle Beach

The Myrtle Beach area has 60 miles of beachfront to stroll hand in hand on the sand, but there are also miles of boardwalks (free admission) where couples can walk and talk, get a drink or a bite to eat, and take in the savory sights. There are the oceanfront Myrtle Beach Boardwalk with great Myrtle Beach resorts, the Murrells Inlet MarshWalk, and Conway’s Riverwalk.

Drinking duo.

Duplin Winery Myrtle Beach

Sure, we host hundreds of bars and restaurants where you can wine and dine on a date, but we also have quite a few unique (and affordable) ways to grab a drink and let your hair down. For a tasting or bottle of wine, try La Belle Amie Vineyard or Duplin Winery, where they pour muscadine wines and serve live music and seating areas to cozy up to daily. For a pour of something stronger, stop by Twelve 33 Distillery, where flights of gin, rum, vodka, whiskey, and more average around $10; take a VIP tour, and you two could share a cocktail at the end in their sexy speakeasy. And for local craft beer hit up any of the breweries on the Myrtle Beach Beer Trail, including Grand Strand Brewing Company, Crooked Hammock Brewery, Tidal Creek Brewhouse, and New South Brewery, which have their brews on tap, plus live music, yard games, board games, and food menus.

Dancing partner.

The Shag

Dance the night away at Fat Harold’s in North Myrtle Beach that has a rich history in shag dancing and offers free lessons on certain nights. If you and your date want to take a lesson in ballroom or Latin dance, try the professionals By the Sea Ballroom & Latin Studio in Myrtle Beach.

Give her flowers.

Brookgreen Gardens Myrtle Beach

Brookgreen Gardens doubles as a historic landmark a romantic setting to tiptoe through the tulips (and many more florals) and take in the sculptures with your love. Admission is reasonable, and this may be more of an afternoon date with Brookgreen’s hours, but it is worth the visit. There are certain times of the year, however, over the summer and during the holidays, when the garden is open in evenings, when it features magical light shows, too.

Sporty spice.

Paddle Boards

If you’d like to work up a sweat on your date (not what you’re thinking), rent a standup paddleboard (SUP) or kayak from any of the many rental offices in Myrtle Beach. Side by side, you can explore the waters of the inlet, marshes, or river and watch the sun set. Or kick it up a notch and go axe throwing at spots like Jack Axe Throwing, where you can show off your skills for a little friendly competition. And still in the realm of sports, but in spectator mode, take your date to the diamond to watch a Myrtle Beach Pelicans baseball game. The Chicago Cubs minor league team has an action-packed competitive schedule and offers affordable, entertaining special themes, like Thirsty Thursday, when beer drafts are only $1.

Get locked up together.
